Deakin University’s Recycling and Clean Energy Commercialisation Hub (REACH) is helping to future-proof Australia’s workforce through an innovative suite of green short courses co-designed by education and research experts, along with industry leaders.
Delivered by Deakin’s Lifelong Learning teams and supported by REACH, these flexible targeted courses are for learners at every stage – from school leavers, TAFE graduates and career changers to professionals seeking to step into emerging industries.
With courses on offer across hydrogen, and energy storage, and sustainable resource management, Deakin’s stackable learning model offers pathways into postgraduate qualifications and ensures learners can tailor their education to meet evolving career goals.
“We’ve seen new learners to Deakin enrol into these courses, as well as current students using these courses as electives within their existing studies – providing personalisation and flexibility to a broad range of lifelong learning needs” said Hannah Brown, Manager of Lifelong Learning.
“Additionally, we’ve seen significant interest from industry and other education providers in promoting these courses through their networks, filling crucial skills gaps and incorporating cutting edge research.”
The courses are developed in close collaboration with Deakin’s education and research experts and industry partners, ensuring learners gain job-ready skills tailored to the demands of Australia’s transition to a low-emission economy.

- Free online taster courses introducing foundational concepts in hydrogen and renewable energy, offering a pathway to more advanced, credit-bearing short courses.
- Continuing Professional Development (CPD) courses designed to keep professionals at the forefront of innovation.
- Stackable short courses offering transferable skills and academic credit toward postgraduate qualifications applicable across green career pathways.
